Alone in Beautiful Places
Secrets
We all have our secret places--those places we hope not a ton of people know about. This is an example of one of mine. This pic was taken in the early fall as can be discerned from the hue of the light and the color of the surrounding grasses. This is one of those places I can go and a multi-fish day in about 100yds.Wyoming Spring Creeks
This beautiful cutthroat was taken at one of this area's many spring creeks.A spring creek is just what it sounds like--a creek that originates from a spring.Because it originates from the ground and flows through limestone,it has a more constant water temperature through the year and its' pH is more toward the basic (not acidic) end of the scale.Fish thrive in spring creeks because of this constancy of conditions; this is one reason we need to be aware of invasive species such as zebra mussels, which rob the very baseline of food that inhabits streams such as these.Wash your equipment!Friday, June 26, 2009
More About Kevin
Since I moved to Wyoming as a permanent resident 4 years ago, I have lived one summer (excluding my prior 4 summers) in the Buffalo valley near Moran, and have spent 3 winters and 2 summers living in, and working around Jackson. Jackson is a very cool town, but as my lease came up this year in May, I felt a real pull to leave the "trappings" of city life and move to the country. So that's just what I did! I am residing back where I started-the BV- and it really has felt like coming home.Big decisions in my life right now are how to run a clean camp so as not to attract bears--grizzlies; and just plain simplifying. We are inundated every day with news--mostly bad--that we cannot do anything about--Iran,Korea,Michael Jackson, Farrah, economic crises--stressors that subtly affect our world view and our views of the future. I am not sticking my head in the sand, only trying to seek out those things which I really value in life. When you get to see upwards of 30 shooting stars in a given clear night it is humbling!Waking to a view of the Tetons that I didn't pay a million bucks for ain't bad either.Being able to fish from my back yard--priceless! If you're heading this way, give me a holler (307-413-9370), and see what real relaxation is all about. Kevin
